Personal growth is a process of improving yourself in different areas (knowledge, habits, skills, etc.) of your life. I have put together a 30-day personal growth challenge with actionable steps for each day to help you get started. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a process.

30-Day Personal Growth Challenge
Day 1: Wake up an hour earlier
Ever wish you had more hours in a day? Waking up early gives you more time to get things done.
- You have more time to focus on your tasks
- You get things done quicker because you are calm and think clearly
- You have less interruptions because the rest of the world is still sleeping
Apart from getting things done, waking up early has some health benefits. Apparently, early risers are less likely to have sleep disorders than night owls.
Day 2: Create a morning routine
It matters how you start your day. How you start your day sets the tone for the rest of the day.
A morning routine helps you take control of your morning and increase productivity. Decide what you want to include in your morning routine, experiment a little and see what works for you.
The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.

Day 3: Declutter your home
Decluttering helps you to take charge of your life and space. Decluttering improves your overall well-being. It’s a form of self-care.
Have you ever noticed how you get things done quicker in a clutter-free space than a cluttered one?
Day 4: Do that one thing you have been putting off?
Are you guilty of putting off tasks for a later date? Pick one task that you have been putting off and get it done today.
Don’t overthink it, just start and go all the way. This works for me most of the time.
Day 5: Answer 7 personal growth and self-discovery prompts
Check out this list of personal growth and self-discovery prompts and respond to the first 7 journal prompts. Journaling helps you to self-introspect and discover some things about yourself.
Day 6: Write down 3 things you want to achieve this month
Decide 3 things that you want to tick off your to-do list and come up with a realistic plan of what you are going to do to achieve those goals.
Day 7: Get out of your comfort zone
Do one thing that makes you uncomfortable. What are you afraid of doing? What makes you uncomfortable but you know you need to do in order to get to your next level?
Growth is outside of comfort zone.
Day 8: Read 15 pages of a book you started but never finished
You don’t have to binge-read a book to feel like you are making progress. Enjoy your book and take it one day at a time.
As you read, write down what speaks to you. We usually remember stuff that we write down.
Day 9: Check on your finances
Being aware of where you are in your finances is very important? What do your monthly savings look like?
What can you remove from your list of expenses to save more? What can you invest in to grow your money?
Day 10: Practice listening
Today ( hopefully not just today) be intentional about listening. I have come to realize that very few people actually listen.
Day 11: Learn something new
I like to allocate 15 minutes every day to learning something new. I usually read a book, blog post or watch a YouTube video.
What do you want to know more about? Do a little research. It doesn’t have to be complicated. Growth is a step by step kind of thing.
Day 12: Increase your water intake
My body feels better on days I remember to take enough water. Remember to take care of your body because everything that concerns you depends on how well you feel.
Day 13: Start exercising
Do what you can manage to start with. You can always begin to stretch it bit by bit. Exercise doesn’t only keep you fit but also increases your performance.
Day 14: Find podcasts you can listen to
One thing I like about podcasts is that they don’t need undivided attention. You can listen to a podcast as you clean the house or drive to work.
Day 15: Reflect
Take time to think about the first half of the month. What did you do without struggle? What did you struggle with following through? Why do you think you struggled in those areas?
Day 16: What if the answer is yes?
We usually struggle to ask for certain things because we are scared of getting a no. Reach out to that person today and make your request known.
What if the answer is yes?
Day 17: Time Management
Plan your day or week and schedule your activities. Develop daily habits that work for you.
You can also try the Pomodoro effect to increase your productivity.
Day 18: Positive Affirmations
Because words have creative power, check out this list of positive affirmations you can start your day with.
Day 19: Random act of kindness
Show someone that people still care. We live in a world where most people are only focused on themselves and achieving their goals.
No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted.
Day 20: Practise self-care
According to the Oxford Dictionary, self-care is the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one’s own health.
In a world of so many goals, tasks and deadlines, self-care shouldn’t be ignored.
Make self-care part of your daily routine.
Day 21: Check what you eat
What foods do you eat the most? What do you need to eliminate from your list? What do you need to add?
Day 22: Spend some time outside
Spend some time outside and enjoy a breeze of fresh air. Even about 15 minutes of fresh air does a lot.
Day 23: Meditate
I like to meditate on the word of God.
Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Day 24: Take a look at your sleep habits
What time do you sleep? Are sleeping for enough hours? Be deliberate about getting enough hours of sleep.
- Have supper early and wash the dishes
- Put away your phone
- Take a warm bath
Day 25: Forgive yourself
We all make mistakes. Forgive yourself for whatever mistakes you made. You didn’t know better then.
Day 26: Check on someone
Call a friend or relative and find out how they are doing. We live in a world where people feel they have no one to share their struggles/wins with.
Check on someone and make them feel special.
Day 27: Minimize your social media time
Social media can take too much of your time and keep you from being productive. Be deliberate about the time you spend on social media.
- Turn off notifications
- Leave your phone in another room
- Avoid going on social media before you get certain things done
Day 28: Get creative in the kitchen
Get creative in the kitchen and make something different with the ingredients you already have.
Day 29: Do a savings challenge
Challenge yourself to save a certain amount of money every month. Writing a budget will give you an idea of how much you can save. It doesn’t have to be a fixed amount.
Day 30: Gratitude
It’s 30 days already! Write down what you are grateful for. What you appreciate grows.
